<英語版>This SAMURAI retainer's residential quarterdates early 17th century when Goto Fief's lord,Goto Moritosi carried out areform plan named ''Fukue Naori'' by ordering approximately 170 retainers tolive permanently in Fukue.
Considering the location of this remote island, theforming of castle town here is a good proof of the spread of the SAMURAI feudalsystem in Japan!!! And,as I reported in this video,the stonework fence is quiteunique. In the upper part,round pebbles are skillfully put in semi-circularlayers,and supported at each end by a “KAMABOKO(蒲鉾)”-shapedstone. この武家屋敷通りは、五島藩主五島盛利公がおよそ170名の家臣団に福江への永住を命じた"福江直り"を行った17世紀初頭に遡ります。
かかる離島と言うロケーションを考えると、この地への城下町形成は、武士による封建制度があまねく伝播していた事を明確に物語るものです。ビデオでもご案内の通り、石塀は非常にユニークで、上部には、丸石が半円形状に巧みに積重ねられ、両端は、蒲鉾型の石で支持されてます。かかる石塀の建築例は、日本の他の地域では、極めて稀なものです。詳しくはビデオをご覧のほどを!!
